Flying
We try to ensure that all new cadets have
the chance to go flying at least once in their first year. Many manage a
lot more than that, usually in a Grob two-seater aircraft. We most often
go flying at RAF Cosford. There's often a chance to fly in different
types of aircraft - if the RAF's got it, you could be lucky!

Gliding
The ATC is the largest gliding organisation
in the world. We go gliding several times a year at RAF
Hullavington, near Chippenham in Wiltshire. When
you're 16 you can apply for a gliding course, and within 12 months you
could be flying solo. This could be before you're old enough to drive a
car! |

Adventure Training & Camps
Initiative,
resourcefulness and teamwork. You don't know what you can achieve till
you try!
Most cadets enjoy the outdoor life - hill
walking, map reading, canoeing,
rock climbing, skiing,
abseiling, caving
etc. And a few more adventurous souls have taken
part in the Outward Bound Scheme. Camps
for a number of squadrons in the West Mercian Wing include the Annual
Easter Camp and Summer Camp. These are highly popular - see the
calendar for more details.
Last year we organised greens camps in Penally, South Wales and at RAF
Bovington.
The big one though
was
the Dragonbash.
The location in 2004 was at the western end of Lake Ogwen in Snowdonia,
with access to two of the most spectacular circular mountain
walking routes in Wales. The cost of £45 covered all transport, food and
accommodation for the week.

Climbing
Weather permitting we
normally organise a number of climbing days each year locally at Symonds Yat.

Visits to Military Bases
Spending time at a Royal Air Force base
gives first-hand experience of life in the services, as well as taking
part in exercises designed by the RAF. We can also organise trips to
overseas bases, both British and foreign. |

Shooting
As part of your training you will be given
the opportunity to handle both small and full bore weapons, where you
will learn the high priority which safety is given. Our cadets fire
regularly in competitive shooting, and we organise sessions every month
or two at the RAF Innsworth range near Gloucester. |

Join the Band
Watch out for announcements about band
practice, coming soon to a field near our neighbours....

Squadron Annual
Dinner
Every year the squadron
holds a dinner based on a service mess dining-in night. The dinner is
attended by cadets, staff, civilian committee, parents and guests.
After a few short speeches the cadets are presented with their
well earned annual awards.

Parades
At present the cadets
parade at ATC Sunday, Remembrance Sunday and Battle of Britain Sunday,
and to mark special events. We held a parade to celebrate the
millennium in the City of Worcester followed by a service at the
Cathedral.
