Group Capt Paul Oborn, Station Commander, RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire, was the guest of honour at the annual Squadron Dinner of 1002 (Ross-on-Wye) Sqn Air Training Corp at How Caple Grange on Saturday 13th March 2004.  Group Capt Oborn and his wife accepted the invitation, which came about because of the squadron's contact with Senior Aircraftsman John Slip, an ex-cadet of the squadron and the Group Captain's personal driver.  The Group Captain gave a very enjoyable speech to some 60 guests and cadets, recounting his time as a cadet in a squadron in New Zealand and his past and present experience in the Royal Air Force.  He then went on to present awards to a number of cadets and staff.

Awards:  Sgt Tom Jones (Best Senior Cadet), Cpl John Gwinnett (Best Junior Cdt and Best Senior shot), Cdt Danielle Elliott (Best Junior Shot), Cpl Christopher Stones (Smartest Cdt), Cdt Kate Mortimer (Best Girl Cdt), Cdt Imogen Farrent (Trophy for Endeavour), Sgt Dan Higgins (Sports Trophy and Academic Achievement), Cdt Gary Morris (Best Attendance and NCOs Cup), Cdt Rachael Garrett (Adventure Training award), Cpl Andrew Morgan (Flight of Fancy).  The Sword of Honour was presented to Flt Sgt James Price for the second consecutive year.
