The Air Training Corps -

helping to build a community

The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary youth organisation. The aims of the Corps, as defined by Royal Warrant, are:

bullet

to promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force;

bullet

to provide training which will be useful whether in service or civilian life;

bullet

to foster the spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

The ATC is a voluntarily run organisation, sponsored by the Royal Air Force but locally self-supporting, deriving its own finances from members, events and local business which enable the squadron’s activities to take place. The membership of 1002 Squadron in Ross has grown rapidly in the past year, and so inevitably has our need to raise additional funding.

1002 Squadron, based in Ross-on-Wye, has a wide catchment area in Monmouth, Herefordshire and the Forest of Dean. The ATC is of value to the community. Although few cadets actually join the forces, most are able to use the ATC as a springboard for employment, recognising that they have been helped to achieve their potential and develop their personal skills. The ATC has something for everyone, whatever their ability. Teamworking and social skills learned in the ATC will be important throughout their lives. Many members gain Duke of Edinburgh’s awards.

Your organisation can make a difference by sponsoring Cadets at events, offering a small regular donation, or by offering the use of equipment and facilities.

In return for your assistance we will be delighted to include your name or your business’s name and details on our website, and acknowledgement in programmes and publications.

You can help us by returning the attached form, confirming that you would like to receive future news about Ross-on-Wye ATC and indicating any ways in which you’d be prepared to support our aims.

If you would like to make a small regular donation (say £10 per month or £50 per year) all the money raised will go directly to fund group activities and facilities. All our adult helpers give their time and services voluntarily. We publish yearly accounts which you would be entitled to receive.

So please lend us your support, or get in touch if you have any comments. Thanks for your attention!
